As much as Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a transcode-less workflow, there might be times where you need to ingest your footage instead of link to it. What options do you have for ingesting your media? In this video, author Jeff Greenberg walks you through how to ingest video clips in Premiere Pro and explains when that is a good option.
- When you bring stuff into Premiere Pro,…it by default links to that material.…Premiere has a couple other advanced choices…about ingesting, and I'd like to examine…what they are, because they may just be…a better workflow for you.…Here in the top of the media browser…is the choice to ingest.…Ingest on.…It automatically opens up my project settings…and lets me turn on ingest.…I'll say okay here.…We'll come back to that box.…This wrench here brings back those ingest settings.…That part of the project settings that you'll find…under the file menu,…the default here is to copy.…
I just want you to be aware that dragging clips…in your native file system…doesn't guarantee that they get copied.…Using this copy with verification…takes longer but guarantees it gets copied.…You can tell it where you'd like it to copy to.…With this on, when you put in your camera cards,…you can use the media browser,…drag your clips in or import them,…and what it will automatically do…is copy it verified to wherever you tell it to go.…This is a much smarter way to work…
