There are many uses for captions and transcripts. One of these is to include a transcript with your video online so that it is more discoverable. This makes sure that folks who are searching for the topic of your video find it. In this video, author Richard Harrington demonstrates how to include a transcript with a video.
- We've already talked about exporting files…for things like broadcast and the web,…but I'd like to give you some specifics…on actually working with web pages,…as well as YouTube and Facebook.…Let's start by talking about how you can include…the content to make a web page more discoverable.…When you've exported a video,…you really have a couple of options.…You might recall that we've discussed…doing embedded captions.…In this case, the captions are burned in right in the movie.…
Well that's fine, and there's no need…to have a special media player or anything else.…The captions are always visible.…But they don't become indexable.…However, if I generate a simple text file of the script,…this can become part of what's embedded.…Now you might need to make a few changes or tweaks,…or decide to fix a word here if you think it's misspelled.…But that was a made-up word by the mechanic anyways,…he was tryin' to convince her…there was something wrong with her car.…
This text can simply be pasted below the movie…or put right into the HTML editor…
