Importing media files

Importing media into a Premier Pro project is very easy and very fast because when you import something, nothing is actually copied anywhere. All Premiere Pro is doing, is making a link to your original media files. And in this respect it's just like Avid AMA or just the same as the way Final Cut Pro imports media. But of course, when you're working with a media management system of this kind, you do need to take some responsibility for where you put the the original files. Here I am in the Project panel in my new project, and I'll just save this as a different name. So I'm going to go to the File menu, I'm going to not choose Save, I'm going to choose Save As and I'll call this, Importing Media Files. It's easy to find, and I'll just Ctrl Shift S or Cmd Shift S to make another version that's complete so you can compare and contrast, okay. So, I can right-click in the blank space of the Project panel, and I can choose Import or just as easily, I can double-click on this space. Which…
