- I wanna look at how you can use variable bitrate encoding in Adobe Media Encoder to get a higher quality export. The idea with variable bitrate encoding, is that media encoder will analyze the video and use the data, more in some areas than an other, depending on what area is needed. Basically, this is based on where there's more motion, it will use more data to make a better looking image. Let's take a look at how it works. So, I'm here in media encoder and I've got one job set up and it's got a pretty standard setting, H.264 with Match Source - High bitrate, but I wanna click into the export settings and look at where we can apply the variable bitrate. So, if I scroll down under bitrate settings, you see that I have, by default, VBR, 1 pass. The choices here are CBR, which is constant bitrate, and that refers to not modulating the bitrate, just having a constant sort of one code of paint across everything.
