Hard Limiter

- [Lecturer] Think of audio as a wave form made of mountains that have peaks. If you were to normalize your audio, the whole system of mountains and valleys would come up or down so the relative distance between the peaks and the valleys would be maintained. However, when you use a limiter you set the height of the tallest peak and the limiter makes sure no peak goes past this height. The valleys are not affected so the relative distance between the peaks and the valleys is now not maintained and we have less dynamics in the audio. Let's see how this works. Open sequence six point six hard limiter and add the hard limiter effect to the clip. Let's go ahead and click on the edit button here. And I'm going to make this panel a little bit bigger and here we go. We have several settings here. We have the peak and the true peak. We have maximum amplitude input boost.
