A major difference between Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro 7 is how audio is handled—particularly, clips that have more than one track of audio. How does Premiere work with mono and stereo audio tracks? In this video, author Jeff Greenberg demonstrates how Premiere Pro works with different types of audio tracks.
- One thing that I find software often struggles with is…when you have a clip that's got two audio channels,…should it be individual mono channels…or is it a stereo clip?…I've got a great example of this to take a look at.…Here this clip which I've got open in my source monitor,…when I go ahead and I look at the audio,…I've hit that tilde key there,…there's a huge difference…between the left channel and the right channel.…Premiere thinks this is a stereo file…and it's really a pair of mono items.…One is the camera, totally garbage the left side.…
The right side though is what we want and is what's needed.…Let's modify that.…I'm going to take this clip, I'm going to go to the clip menu,…I'm going to choose modify, audio channels.…This is a shift+G,…I use this all the time from the keyboard.…And you can see it's interpreting it as a stereo file.…I'm going to give it a preset of a mono.…And what it's going to do is it's now got two audio clips,…each of them on one track.…I'm going to say okay here, I'm going to just press the enter key.…
