EQ (equalizer) is an effect that you can use in a clip to affect certain frequencies in a clip. By adjusting these frequencies, you can adjust the tone of your recording. In this video, take a look at adjusting frequencies by using EQ filters in the Audio Track Mixer.
- EQ, or equalizer, what is it? … An EQ is an effect that we can use to affect … certain frequencies of our clip and not others. … Why use one? … Well, it's because of overtones. … Each sound, each musical note has a pitch … which is the fundamental frequency. … And it has then overtones, … which are tones or frequencies that are generated … from the main one. … It's where our musical scale comes from. … By adjusting these frequencies … we can adjust the tone of a recording. … Now, I should add here that you can't … completely change the tone of a recording, … all you can do is work with what was recorded already. … But you can adjust some things, … including getting rid of unwanted frequency or frequencies, … especially if they're noise. … Other than cleaning up audio … you'll see that the changes that we make using an EQ … are usually very light, very small. … However, having said that it does really help … the quality of many recordings. … So, let's try it. … Please go ahead and open the sequence named 5.5 EQ. …
