Defining artificial intelligence (AI)
So before we start looking at examples of this technology as it relates to video and post-production, let's define what AI is. Like we see here on the slide, artificial intelligence is basically an area of computer science. And what it does is emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans. Many of these activities we're already familiar with, but include things such as speech recognition. For those of you who have Siri, or even use Hello Google, you're familiar with this and how you chat with speech on your phone. This is actually even involved with certain automated processes that you can get online, such as closed captioning. We can also talk about learning, planning, and what's extremely important when we talk about video in post, which is image recognition. So let's focus on image recognition for a second.
