Creating a spot color effect in Photoshop
- Besides doing this with the leave color effect in After Effects, you can do the same thing in Photoshop using a combination of blending modes. I actually prefer this way, as if offers more control, and does a better job of blending at the edges. Remember, we can export the file then as is and render a new video file or capture this as a lookup table. You can also do the spot color effect in Photoshop. My favorite way of doing it is with a black and white adjustment layer. However, you're going to change the blending mode of that adjustment layer. Let's go ahead and change its blending mode. You can do this one of two ways. I'll set it to lighten, to start. Now, watch what happens. As we drag a slider all the way to the right those areas lose their color. And to the left, that color is left behind. You can actually balance this out as you see here.
