Join Jason Osder for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating a new workspace, part of Premiere Pro Guru: Customizing Workspaces.
We've mentioned a few times now that your customized Workspaces can be saved. And I want to make sure you know exactly how to do that. As you can see, we've customized the Workspace. It's looks pretty similar to where we left off in the last movie, but now is the scenario where this is something that we actually like and want to come back to and be able to use later. So I've already made certain adjustments. You can see a nice big timeline as I like it. I've moved the project panel up here. I've made the source panel smaller so I could also fit the project panel there. And now I go up under Window, and I simply say, New Workspace.
When I click that you can see that I'm now going to name that Workspace and I would like to call this one Max Timeline. As soon as I say OK, the workspace has been saved. You can now see it here in alphabetical order and with a new keyboard shortcut in my list of defaults. There it is, Max Timeline. And now it works just like any other default. If I change it, or change to a different default, let's say Editing, I might have to just reset current Workspace.
Now I'm back to my default editing Workspace. And of course, the one I just saved is available to me. There it is. And if I make adjustments it will also obey that same reset command. In this case I'm going to reset back to Max Timeline, the one that I created. So there you see very simply how you can save a new Workspace, and come back to it. Once it's saved, it will follow all of the rules of any other default Workspace. And be careful because this alphabetical list means that some of your other keyboard shortcuts, in this case Metalogging because it's below Max Timeline in the alphabetical list, that keyboard shortcut has been changed.
