Creating a LUT with Adobe Capture

- If you have a mobile device such as Android or iOS, Adobe actually has a great utility to capture things in the real world and move them into Adobe apps. It's called Adobe Capture, and one module in it is the ability to create look up tables based upon items on your camera roll or things around you. To use the app, simply launch it on your device and you can use the search field. I'll simply search for capture and launch the Adobe Capture app. You'll now see several different options, and what we're gonna focus on is making a look. Now this allows you to use things in the real world such as the tones here from the desk to create a look up table. But you can also access your camera roll. For example, I recently had a chance to visit Adobe's offices, and while looking down on Times Square is a nice, rich, lush pool of color, I could also just take advantage of something this selfie that I took in front of the After Effects themed elevator. And you see that it picks up on all those colors in the scene. If that's what you decide to use, it's pretty simple. Whether you're pointing it at an image or simply using something from your camera roll, just click the capture button and those colors will come into play. Now along the bottom, all of those captured colors in the scene become options that you can use to shift things. For example, I can latch in here on this purple and adjust the intensity of that effect. You'll note that you have a few different options here. Swiping to the left you'll see a basic photo thumbnail which works on a nice, static image. And this allows you to choose which colors are going to influence things. And tapping the screen, you can see the before and after. Or you can swipe over and see this time-lapse clip, or even go once over and grab a video file or thumbnail from your camera roll so you can see what that looks like. Let's stick here with this basic preset. You'll note that there's a wide range of options and I kinda like this grayish tint here. When I'm ready, I'll click the next icon and it gives me the ability. Now the thumbnail is going to be set by the source image that you used, and you can give it a name. We'll call this gray elevator. From the library, you can choose to log in to your Creative Cloud Library. Click sign in to do so. Enter your email address and password for Adobe Creative Cloud and click sign in. You'll then see different libraries available to you. For example, I have a library called Looks & LUTs, but I can easily click the plus button here if I wanted to create a new library. I'll simply put this into Looks & LUTs, check it over for a name and the thumbnail, and remember, you can also choose whatever image here you wanted based upon when you shot this. When you're ready, click save look. You'll now see that it's added into that library and you see several others here that I've captured from my boot on a dusty camping trip to the rich color in the desert, to a clock that was made out of stone. Now, I can switch back to Premiere Pro. Remember, you can choose your libraries panel. In this panel, that new look becomes available. So if you wanna use it, it's a simple drag and drop. And there's that gray elevator look applied. Find something else you wanna use? Drop it in and it applies. You'll note that it uses that entire strip of color, but when you latched in on one color, that color was influenced in the final mix. This will make it very easy for you to take anything that you see in the real world and turn it into a styleized look that can be applied as a creative look inside of Premiere Pro. Remember, all those different libraries are available here and you can take advantage of other things such as textures, and other elements. Remember, in the panel here, you can easily create a new library. This library will sync. You can also easily collaborate or share this library with another user by choosing collaborate to make it equally contributable, or share link to give them download access only to a particular look that you create.
