Join Jason Osder for an in-depth discussion in this video Changing the active panel with shortcuts, part of Premiere Pro Guru: Essential Keyboard Shortcuts.
…There's a keyboard shortcut that a lot of people don't use too…often, but I think it's pretty useful if you think about it.…And, it allows you to move through which panel is active on the interface.…And, the short cut, and this one is…for Mac and PCs, is Shift+Ctrl, and then period.…And, you see that clockwise, I go around to…all of the different windows, each one becoming active.…Or, I can use comma, and then I…move the other direction counterclockwise around the interface.…
The reason that this is useful, is that other…keyboard shortcuts will behave differently, depending on what's active.…So, if I use this to toggle over and make the timeline active, then if I use, let's…say, Cmd+A to select all, that's going to select everything on the timeline.…Of course, if the project panel were…active, that select all would be different.…It would be selecting all of the clips in the project.…So, it's a nice shortcut just to be able…to quickly move around the interface determining whats active.…
There's another connective set of shortcuts.…
