Continuing our look at Auto effects is Auto Levels.…This effect is a bit more powerful than Auto Contrast because it lets you go…after the brighter and darker values a bit more independently, and it goes ahead…and fixes the middle tones, giving you a better overall exposure.…Let's see how it works.…In this particular scene we have a busy street scene, and it's pretty close, but…if we look at the Waveform Monitor here you see that most of the trace here is…falling between 80 and 20%.…
So we just lack overall contrast and this is amplified by the fact that…we're shooting this video on DSLR, so it just lacks some of the contrast…ratio of beefier formats.…With the Auto effect applied it definitely improved it but watch what happens here.…As the scene changes, and details in the scene change a sudden color…shift occurs right there.…If you look at that you'll notice that as the man walking in the background…wearing the dark coat, left the scene, the computer determined different…automatic values and you see color shift there between them.…
