- Let's take a look at a real problematic shot. One that has deep exposure problems. This one's a bit tricky, and I'm going to take advantage of blending modes and a few extra tricks to pull it off. Let's take a look at shot two here, and you can see it's really quite dark. In this case, the subject is getting lost in the shadows. I'm a big fan of actually duplicating the layer and taking advantage of a trick called blending modes. By screening the shot, we can start to add details up. Let's duplicate that a few times. And you see that very quickly the darker areas are composited together, lightening them up to create a better overall image. Now that's helpful, but we're getting a little bit of splotchiness in the cheeks because of the redness there, and the blending modes aren't helping. So let's do a couple of adjustments. First, we'll add the adjustment layer on top, giving us more control. And we could apply the Lumetri Color effect. Now from Basic Correction, let's apply a few…
