When it comes to captions, they can be used for a variety of reasons. In addition for helping those with impairments, they can be used for many other reasons. This makes captions very popular. In this video, author Richard Harrington discusses additional benefits captions have when posting content to social media.
- I've mentioned a few times that videos…that have captions or transcripts…really perform a lot better.…This is because they're easier to discover.…But they're also more engaging,…and more people can get the information,…so they tend to stay on the page longer.…Accessible videos are essentially more indexable.…Now, video takes longer to produce than web content,…so it tends to be rated higher in Google searches…due to the increased production time.…
It's often deemed as more relevant.…Plus, video is often spotlighted in Google searches,…particularly YouTube videos.…So videos that are on YouTube…might appear higher on a page…just because Google features them…earlier in the search process.…People will tend to spend more time on sites…that have video,…so video increases the time on the page.…And, videos with captions tend to have…people stay even longer.…Videos with captions are more likely to be finished…and have complete watch times than non-captioned videos.…
Remember, your ranking is tied to really…how much time people spend on your website,…
