Adding reaction shots

When it comes to understanding the meaning of a scene, it is sometimes more telling to watch people's reactions than to simply listen to what is being said. Reaction shots, sometimes called the listening moment, convey information more quickly than phrases. One look can literally be worth a thousand words. I have added a reaction shot of Joseph to the sequence I built in the last movie. Let me play that for you. (Mr. Dalton: Six p.m., deliver.) The simple act of Joseph looking down subtly conveys a tinge of maybe shame or resignation, trepidation; whatever you want to call it, it really adds something, some more emotion to the scene. That is what I am looking to accomplish with reaction shots. This particular reaction shot is powerful because it serves two creative purposes. In addition to adding a beat of sadness, I have got built-in eye trace, bonus. Eye trace refers to the direction your eyes move across the screen to follow movement.
