- Earlier, I showed you one of my favorite techniques. Using a black and white copy of the footage to process it and boost details. This can be useful for things like a bleach bypass look, or to just enhances the black or white point of the footage in a different way than the Lumetri effect can achieve. Here's how. Let's open up the last sequence in this bin, 10.4. What we're going to do is apply a black and white adjustment, but rather than putting it on the footage itself, toss in your Adjustment Layer. You can scale the handles there so it matches the duration of the shot, and what you're going to do is from the Effects panel, type in the word black. If you scroll through the list, you'll notice the Black & White effect. Put that on the adjustment layer. By default, the footage is converted to a grayscale image. I'd suggest using the Basic Correction controls here to emphasize the shadows and the highlights. I'll tend to split these, giving a nice strong white point for detail…
