In this video, explore the features of the new home screen, including Auto Creations.
- When you first launch Premier Elements, you'll be greeted by the elements hub home screen. It's a redesign of the welcome screen. And the hub not only gives you access to your elements programs, but includes a number of additional features that are well worth checking out. Now links to the programs of course, are in the lower right hand corner of the hub. And here we can find links to the video editor, Premier Elements, the photo editor, Photoshop Elements, assuming you have it installed on your computer and the organizer, which is a file management tool we look at a little more closely later in this course. Recent files of course are listed directly underneath those. But there's a lot more going on here on the hub. You'll notice at the top there's inspiration. There's try this. There's what's new and actually many, many of these. These are dynamic links. So for instance, if you go to try this and click on try, it's going to launch the appropriate program. In this case, share photos and videos via Twitter and YouTube. Most likely this is going to launch the organizer, but it will launch the appropriate program and put you in a workspace where it will show you step-by-step, how to perform a specific task. There are what's new articles and there are inspiration articles. Here for instance, is inspiration on how to create great vacation videos and if I click on this button, it lunches my web browser and takes me to a website where I can learn all about creating great travel videos and photos. Pretty cool. Now, in addition to these inspirational links at the very top is a search box where you can look for help on a specific task. Say, for instance, you want to learn how to add transitions. You can type in plain English or you can just type some keywords, add transitions. And that will link you to a series of helps based on your keywords, tutorials and tips, step-by-step showing you how to do certain tasks with Premiere Elements. To get back to the hub screen, just click on the home button here in the upper left hand corner. Now, in addition to all those tools in the lower left hand corner are auto creations. Auto creations are generated automatically by each of these three programs. They're continually searching your hard drive for media files and looking for opportunities to start projects automatically for you. If you click on view all here in the lower right hand corner of the auto creations, it will take you to page, sometimes several pages of auto creations or works in progress that the programs have created automatically for you. So if you click on the open button next to any one of these auto creations, the appropriate program will launch, the work in progress will open and you can continue to edit and build out the projects. So pretty cool, auto creations. There's a lot going on here on the hub. It's not just a home screen for launching your programs. It's a link to an entire library of tutorials, tips and inspiration. And since it's dynamic, this library along the top here of what's new, try this and inspiration is going to continually grow and be updated as you work with the program.
