Play audio in an external application

- [Instructor] There are maybe times when you'll want an audio file to play in an external application rather than in your PowerPoint presentation. Maybe you want the external player's extra features, or maybe PowerPoint won't play your file type. Previously, we saw how to get a video clip to play outside of PowerPoint by using an action button, and the process works exactly the same way with an audio file. So here's a quick review. I'll come up to the Insert tab, then I'll come down to Shapes, and at the very bottom we'll find our action buttons. For sound, I might choose the Play button, or maybe the Speaker icon. I'll go with the Play button. I'll come back to the slide and I'll hold down the shift key so my button stays square and I'll click to drag out a shape. And when I let go, an Action Settings dialog box opens. Notice hyperlink to is selected, and from this menu, I'll select other file.
