- [Instructor] Ordering and grouping objects on slides is an important part of PowerPoint. You'll need to know how to order shapes, images, and text boxes, align shapes, images, and text boxes, group shapes and images, and display alignment tools. I've opened 04_06 Hotel from the Exercise File. Let's start by taking a look at slide 10. Our first objective is to order objects. I'm going to move the Smoothie Bar shape to overlap the other two so we can talk about how PowerPoint stacks objects. When you have objects that overlap in PowerPoint, the one you created last is always on the top. This may not be your preference. There are options on the Shape Format tab to work with this. Take a look at the Arrange area of the ribbon. With Smoothie Bar selected I have options to send this backward. I can send it backward one layer, or I can send it all the way to the back.
