Insert Summary Zoom slide

- [Instructor] Next let's take a look at Summary Zoom Slides. For the MOS exam you'll need to know how to insert Summary Zoom Slides and how to adjust options. I've opened 03_05 Recreation from the exercise folder. If you take a look at the slides at the left, we start with a title slide called Adventure Awaits and then we have a Boating section, including three pictures, followed by a Fishing section, including three pictures, a Camping section, including three pictures and a Hiking section, including three pictures. This makes a good presentation for a Summary Zoom Slide. This new Summary Zoom feature, creates a summary slide that allows you to jump to various parts of a presentation and it also allows you to jump back to the summary slide at any time. I already have slide one selected. On the MOS exam, if you're asked to insert a Summary Zoom Slide, you can start by clicking the Insert tab on the ribbon and then choosing Zoom. From here, I'll click Summary Zoom. This opens a dialogue box with all of the slides in my presentation. Now I'm choosing the ones I'd like to appear on the Summary Zoom Slide. I'll choose Boating, Fishing, Camping and Hiking. Once I've checked all those boxes, I'll click Insert. A couple things have happened as a result. Notice at the left, sections have been added. You'll notice the default section at the very beginning, a summary section before our summary slide, a Boating section before slide three and if I scroll down, we'll see similar sections before slide seven, slide 11 and slide 15. So all of this was done when I inserted the Summary Zoom Slide. In addition, the thumbnails that we see on slide two, are actually links to those sections. Without doing anything else, I want to show you what's going to happen, when we present this slide show. I'll start by clicking on slide one and then click the slideshow button at the bottom of the screen. As I advance to slide two, I see all of the thumbnails, representing the sections of my presentation. I could click on any one of these to jump to a particular section, but instead of that I'll simply advance the slide with the arrow keys on my keyboard. Notice we zoom into the Boating section and then as I advance we go through each of those slides and then we zoom back out to the summary slide. If I click on my keyboard to advance again, we move right on to the Fishing section and then back to the Summary Zoom Slide. Let's say I want to skip Camping and go right to Hiking, I can simply click on that slide and it moves me to that section. And then when I'm finished with Hiking, I go back to the summary slide. I'll go ahead and press Esc to end the presentation. It's good to be aware of the other options for Summary Zoom Slides. I'll click on the Summary Zoom area and notice that a zoom area appears on the ribbon. I'll click the Zoom tab and notice I get a full set of options. There are options here such as change image, which would allow me to change the thumbnails that I see for each section. I could also select the Boating section and change the style up above. There are zoom border options that you can change, zoom effects that you can change and even zoom backgrounds that you can change. One last thing I'd like to point out is that you can reposition the thumbnails. I'm going to go ahead and move Boating over to the left. I'm going to rotate Fishing. I'm going to move Hiking down to the right and move Camping totally upside down. Now what happens when I present the slideshow is I can go ahead and continue to navigate through this like I normally did, but let's say I click on Camping at this point, You can see that it not only zooms, but it rotates as it moves into those. So you can get creative with these options. I'll go ahead and press Esc to exit the presentation. So that's Summary Zoom Slides. Be sure to practice creating and adjusting the options, so you can do these tasks quickly on the MOS exam.
