In this video, staff author Jess Stratton shows you how to use shapes and rotate and merge tools to create a professional-looking donut chart in PowerPoint.
- [Instructor] My name is Jess Stratton…and this is PowerPoint Tips Weekly.…PowerPoint comes with a donut chart.…The donut chart, you can get to by clicking insert,…chart, going down to the pie chart area,…and then clicking donut.…It's a nice looking chart.…It's slick, it's modern, and it's a good way…to show your data.…I'm going to show you today how you can come up…with your own donut chart using shapes.…I'm doing it because it's a good skill to know how to do.…
And it helps reinforce how shapes and merging shapes…can work in PowerPoint so that you can use this…and build other things with it.…So I'm going to hit cancel for now…and we're going to make our own.…I'm still on the insert ribbon tab so I'll click shapes…and in the basic shapes, I'll choose the hollow circle.…I'll click once and now hold the shift key down…and drag on the corners to make it much larger.…And I'll also click and drag on this orange dot in the…middle to drag outward to make the circle more hollow.…
Now that I've got my circle I'm going to create another one.…
