If you have a lot of audio, video, or other media files in your presentation, the file size of your PowerPoint presentation may sometimes be an issue if you need to copy it to portable media or send it over the internet. PowerPoint gives you a way to compress the media clips in your presentation so that your PowerPoint file doesn't take up as much disk space.
- [Garrick] Hi, I'm Garrick Chow…and welcome to PowerPoint Tips Weekly.…If you have a lot of audio, video, or media files…in your presentation, the file size of your PowerPoint…may sometimes be an issue if you need to copy it…to a portable media or send it over the internet.…PowerPoint gives you a way to compress the…media clips in your presentation so that…your PowerPoint file doesn't take up as much disk space.…However, compressing your video and audio files…will delete extraneous image or audio data…that's not currently in use.…And that includes the beginnings and endings…of video or audio clips that you trimmed,…as well as the areas you might have…cropped out of the frame of a video.…
So once you apply compression, you'll lose the ability…to restore that content, unless you completely remove it…and reinsert the original untrimmed, uncropped version.…Also be aware that compression does result in…lower quality images and videos.…So you'll only wanna do this if your file really…is too large for your purposes.…
