Explore the different possibilities that can be used when designing a presentation and things to avoid.
- [Instructor] Backgrounds are, as their name would suggest, … the backdrop to your slide environment, … and they should be subtle and simple. … What you definitely don't want are other elements competing … with the background. … The background should support the elements … of your presentation. … So what to use? … Well, solid colors work well … for just about everything, and if you need an accent … for the color, there may be a simple shape … or a line like so would work … or perhaps an unobtrusive graphic element. … Image backgrounds should be avoided … except for very special circumstances … where they may be appropriate, … and even then, it's probably a good idea … to make them less opaque … and to neutralize their colors. … Texture backgrounds, if they're going to be used, … it's probably a good idea to dial them back, … and if you can't do that in the software, … then perhaps overlay them … with a semitransparent colored block … as is happening just here, … but just tone them back a bit …
