To edit data in Power BI Desktop, fire up the Query Editor, which tracks the steps you take with your data model. You can reduce data using a filter, or by reducing selected and nonselected rows and columns.
- [Instructor] We're continuing here…with our dataset from from the prior movie,…which came from an Excel spreadsheet called StatePops.…While this is a lovely dataset,…it is not yet in the shape I need it to be in…to work with it in Power BI and use it…for state by state analysis.…For example, we have a total row…at the bottom and we don't need that.…We also have information on the District of Columbia…and if our intention is to only compare states,…then you need to eliminate the…District of Columbia from our dataset.…
One way to do that that's very easy…is to simply get rid of the rows…that were never admitted to the Union…because the United States wasn't…and the District of Columbia wasn't.…Now, it's really easy.…It's compelling, even to jump up here…and say, well, let's then get rid…of the blanks in this column.…And we can do that, and notice at the bottom…what we have is we don't have…50 rows, now, which is what we want.…We have 52 rows and 50 filtered rows.…In other words, that data hasn't gone away.…
It is still right here.…
