- My name is John Keatley and I'm a portrait photographer and my focus is on celebrity, fine art, and advertising. I'm also the creator of Survival Guide, which is a workshop built around teaching photographers how to find their artistic voice and gain financial success. Business is a passion of mine. I studied Business Administration in college, but it wasn't really until a few years into my career as a photographer that I realized just what an asset it was to actually have a strong understanding in business. Most photographers, myself included, get into photography because it's fun but there really isn't a lot of thought into just how difficult it is to run your own business. Even today, there's still a lot of unanswered questions about what it means to have photography and business work together and the importance of how they need to work together in order to succeed. The market is over saturated with photographers today and understanding how to market yourself and set yourself apart is vital. In this course, we're going to cover the importance of distinguishing yourself from everybody else by identifying and developing your unique voice.
