- [Instructor] The 3D Distance tool is a simple, easy-to-use function that allows you to quickly measure the distance between two points on your point cloud. It'll snap to a point and then display the dimension using the AutoCAD text and lines. Now, bear in mind this is using 3D points so you have to be very careful with the points that you're selecting. For example, we can check the measurement of this road by picking a point from the curb here across to the curb on this side. And that measurement is giving me 397 inches. Now if we look at this, if we rotate, we can see that's pretty straight. You have to make sure you're picking the exact points if you're looking for perfect accuracy. Or sometimes clipping your point cloud down can be good. We can sort of look at this here. Let's run a section through here. I'm going to define a polygon.
