From the course: Learning FARO PointSense Plant
Welcome
- [Instructor] Hello, and welcome to the PointSense Plant for AutoCAD training. Laser scanning is fast becoming the tool of choice for capturing as-built conditions in our job sites. This technology brings the site conditions directly into our desktop environment, allowing us to use the CAD software of our choice to model on top of the point cloud. In this course, we'll learn some of the basic features of PointSense Plant. I'll start by showing you how to bring registered scans into ReCap, VirtuSurv, and AutoCAD. Then I'll show you how to use PointSense and AutoCAD to create 3D piping and structural steel models from a point cloud. I'll also take this one step further by exporting the models to AutoCAD Plant 3D software to automatically extract as-built isometrics. Lastly, we'll learn how to use some of the VirtuSurv macros to help us model more complex shapes in the point cloud. We'll be covering all these features, plus plenty other tools and techniques; so let's go and get our head in the point clouds.
