PointSense overview

- [Instructor] PointSense is a plugin that sits right on top of AutoCAD, and gives us the ability to model in a point cloud. These additional tools allow us to make some modifications to the points, such as clipping, sectioning, analysis, fitting, and creating 3D models. So let's navigate to our exercise files. We're going to open, desktop, exercise files, chapter 01_01. Now let's take a look at the ribbon menu. If you've noticed, PointSense sits as additional tab on your regular AutoCAD ribbon menu. If you're working with PointSense Suite, you may see additional tabs such as PointSense Pro, PointSense Plant, Basic, and Heritage. But if you're only working with PointSense Building, and all the features that we're going to be working with in this course are all related to PointSense Building, so we're only going to be working with those inside this tab. Let's look at the first panel is for point clouds. This is where we come to insert our point clouds, and to set some of our basic point cloud parameters. We're going to be taking a look at sections, where we can cut sections, save sections, and create slices through our point clouds. We'll be looking at scan navigation. This is a feature that allows us to look at a planar image inside AutoCAD, similar to the way we can see in ReCap. We're going to look at some of the basic digitizing tools, we're going to look at these modeling tools that you see here, we're going to do some basic analysis, we're going to look at creating some basic dimensioning for our 2D building drawings, and we're going to take a look at some of the drawing tools too. So now you've seen where all the basic commands that we're going to cover are, it's time to start working with the point clouds.
