PointSense overview

- [Instructor] PointSense is a plugin that sits right on top of AutoCAD and it makes it easier for us to extract details from a point cloud. These additional tools that you're about to see will allow us to make modifications to the point cloud, such as clipping and sectioning. Let's take a look at some of the available features. So let's start by going to our AutoCAD application, and let's open our exercise files. So we're going to come up to open, desktop, exercise files, chapter 01_01, and you should open up to a blank drawing. Now what we're going to do is take a look at the tabs across the top of the ribbon menu. What we see here is a standard AutoCAD interface but with the addition of an extra set of PointSense tabs. Now depending on the product that you've installed, these may look a little bit different. If you have installed the PointSense Suite, you should see the PointSense Pro, building, plant, heritage, and right at the end are basic. If you've installed just the basic, then you won't see the additional tabs, but you will see just the tab that says PointSense Basic. So this is going to look a little bit different, like I said, depending on which of the products that you have installed. So let's take a look at PointSense Basic, now all the tabs that you see here, we're not going to cover all the features, just the basic features that you're going to need to get started. So we'll be dealing with sections, scan navigation, and we'll look at some 3D dimensions, and a few of the digitizing tools. So now that you've seen where all the commands and ribbons are, let's get started and do some work with point clouds.
