Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video The altogether rewritten Smart Sharpen filter, part of Photoshop CC 2013 New Features.
In this movie, I'll introduce you to the new and improved Smart Sharpen Filter.…Now we've had Smart Sharpen in the past but it's…been rewritten this time around for a few different reasons.…The most important new feature is the most subtle as well, but it's going to…make a big difference in terms of the quality of your images going forward.…And that is that Smart Sharpen generates less…obvious halos around the edges inside of your photographs.…Second, you can reduce noise as you sharpen.…You can also scale the dialog box, the Filter protects its…default settings making it, by the way, a model for future filters.…
Now you can apply Smart Sharpen as a Smart Filter.…So I'll go ahead and convert the background…to a Floating Layer by double-clicking on it.…I'll name this New Layer, twins and click OK.…Then I'll right-click inside the Image window with…the Rectangular Marquee Tool and I'll choose Convert…to Smart Object.…Now if you're working along with me, go to…the Filter menu choose Sharpen and choose Smart Sharpen.…
