Working with normal maps
Normal maps are kind of like a fancier version of a bump map. They use color, rather than gray scale data, to represent the surface detail of an object. They also present a special challenge to use, because Photoshop doesn't include a strength slider to adjust the intensity of the effect. Let's see how it works. So we've got our bull model here, with the bump map applied. So if you still have the bump on your object, I'd go to the material or the bull, and let's go up to the bump map. Click this little icon here. And go to Remove Texture. Okay, let's scroll down in here now, until we find normal, and let's click this Folder icon, and let's load in the new texture, okay, so in our exercise files chapter one, folder 0109, we've got bull_normal.jpeg and you can that this is a color image, it's using different colors to represent how the light should hit different parts of the model. So let's click that and open it up. Okay, so it's made the model a little bit strange. So let's see what…
