Join Dennis Meyer for an in-depth discussion in this video What you should know, part of Photoshop Variables: Game Production Art.
- Before we get started, I just like to let you know that this is not a course strictly speaking for beginners. Along the way, I will do everything I can to explain everything that I'm doing. It'd be very helpful to you if you already have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop, how layers work, and how to get around. It will also be extremely helpful if you have some knowledge of how Spreadsheets work. In particular, if you know how to write a function like a sum or an if statement, then you're in a pretty place.
Again, I will try my best to explain everything as I go along, If at any point you have questions that I'm not answering, I would encourage you to use the Lynda.com library to learn more about those subjects.
In this course, Dennis Meyer shows how to create and manage the artwork for an example card game using Photoshop variables. He'll show how to organize a basic template in Photoshop, assign variables for the text and images, and build an external data source in a Google spreadsheet (taking advantage of calculations and other powerful spreadsheet functions). Then he'll show how to load data into the template, export artwork, and make the template available to others.
