Learn essential tools and techniques you can use to make great images and graphics using Photoshop.
- Hello. This is Deke McClelland. Welcome to Photoshop CC One-on-One Fundamentals. Part 1 in a series of three video courses devoted to your ultimate mastery of the world's most powerful image editing software. The One-on-One brand is a promise. You'll have me: a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in the digital arts and more than 80 video courses here at lynda.com If that's not enough, I've written more books on Photoshop than anyone on the planet.
Sounds like a big brag, but I've seriously written 40 books on Photoshop alone. That's four, zero. Such a misspent youth. And that's not counting the couple a hundred foreign editions. But enough about me; let's talk about you. Assuming that you're willing to put in the time and effort, challenge accepted. You are about to learn more about Photoshop than anyone you've ever met, possibly more than you ever thought possible. I'll mentor you through every facet of Photoshop that you need to know in the order you need to know it.
No crowded classroom and no scheduling conflicts. It's just you and me, one-on-one, anytime that it's convenient for you to learn. If this is your first time, One-on-One is project-based learning. You'll experience the power of image size and resolution firsthand in a way that leaves nothing in question. You'll build a layered composition from the ground up. You'll take a murky photograph and make it blossom with brightness and contrast as well as correct its colors. You'll select portions of images and combine them into a fully realized piece of artwork and you'll take a portrait photo and turn it into a work of perfection.
The result is a contextualized learning program. Photoshop's features are about to make crystal clear sense because you apply them sometimes independently, other times in concert to a clearly defined task, and you leave each chapter with a sense of accomplishment. I really hope there are moments where you feel "I rule. I can do this and I can do more." One last item: Now that Photoshop is part of Adobe's Creative Cloud, the old version number updates of the past have been replaced by a stream of frequent and nimble enhancements.
And just as Photoshop is a fluid application, this is a fluid course. What you're about to watch is brand spanking new, by the way. As of today, I am re-recording the entire One-on-One trilogy from scratch. Fundamentals, Advanced, and Mastery. Complete with new projects and brand new exercise files. And as time goes by, I'll sprinkle in new movies to address new features and new ways to work. So be sure to come back and check for new movies the next time you see your copy of Photoshop update.
And with that, I release you to experience Photoshop as I truly hope you've never experienced it before. From the basic features to the most advanced.
