- [Voiceover] Hi, my name is Chris Converse, and welcome to Design the Web. In this episode we'll be making some seamless tiling background images from ordinary photos within Photoshop. Now when I see an interesting pattern or texture, I'll take a photo of it in case I want to use it in a design or layout project. There are many tools in graphic applications that allow you to create seamless patterns, but in many cases you'll need to create the artwork in those applications. In this short course, I'll show you some of my techniques for creating seamlessly tiling graphics from textures inside of photographs.
Now seamless patterns and textures allow you to fill a space in your design by repeating the graphic in a single direction or cover an entire area by repeating the image both vertically and horizontally. I'm supplying two photographs in the Exercise Files for this course, however, I would encourage you to try these techniques on your own photos as well. In addition to these two photographs, there are additional files that I'll be supplying, so let's continue on and take a closer look at what's included in the Exercise Files.
The exercise files included with this course are free to all members. Download them and get started building your own custom backdrops today.
