Using a polarizer for water colors in images

- One of the most important tips for photographing fall colors is to use a polarizer. I use polarizers quite a bit and with fall color the goal is to reduce the glare and bring out the color, and I'm a huge fan of it. Anytime I'm photographing fall color, I start with a polarizer on the lens, and there are times I may want to take it off. Before I talk about those examples, I'd like to share with you how dramatic that polarizer effect can be. We're gonna refer to Lake Wanaka. Now I did a course on Chasing the Light at Lake Wanaka, and it was probably the single best polarizer off and on example, so I wanted to rehash that. So on my screen here I have an image of the beautiful willow tree, and you know there's fall color, but it's not really popping. It's a little bit bland. And with a turn of the polarizer, it turns into this. Dramatic difference. So, without and with. And I hope this really illustrates how crucial it is to have a polarizer and to use it when photographing fall color.…
