Using the pathway as a leading line

- I wanna show you another excellent technique to use in the forest. When we shot Second Beach, we were using leading lines to take us through the scene, from the foreground all the way to the sea stacks in the background. Now, this may seem obvious, but a lot of times we forget we're standing on a leading line, a forest path. While it is man-made, nonetheless it's very interesting, and it takes us through the forest. I mean, after all, that's what a path does. What we've got set up here, is the path curving through the frame. It's curving from right all the way through to the upper-left corner. And, of course, we're in the Hall of Mosses, so you have these incredible trees lining the path, as well as ferns. I've placed a fern in the lower left and the lower right. I've got this little towel to protect against the rain, let's get into the shot here. Into live view, we'll notice the fern kind of puts a boundary on the path, keeps the viewer really focused to follow that path. It kind…
