- Let's continue our look at layer masks.…I've had layer masks applied before,…but now I'd like to show you how…to create one from the beginning.…In this particular image,…I'm modifying the color of this scooter.…Now, here's the end result.…But, let's start that from the beginning.…I'll throw this adjustment layer away.…And, just start over.…There are many ways to make a selection.…You could take advantage of tools,…like the Quick Selection tool,…which allow you to drag through the image…and make a relatively basic selection.…But, I prefer to go a little more subtle.…
Let's deselect that, Select.…And, instead, I'm going to use the Color Range command.…Select, Color Range.…This allows you to make a basic selection.…So, if I click within the image,…you'll see that it starts to choose those pixels.…I'm using the Localized Color option…to keep it a bit smaller and tighter in focus.…So, with a click here, we start to get a selection.…If I add the Shift key,…I can drag through and grow that selection.…And, you'll note that more and more areas are added.…
