Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Using graduated adjustments, part of Photoshop CC 2014: Nondestructive Exposure and Color Correction.
- You've seen some of the Graduated Filters.…I'd like to walk through a few…of the more advanced options.…Within the image, you can get a good base exposure.…But two Graduated Filters, though,…really come in handy.…The Radial Filter is nice…because you can create an initial shape.…Once you have that shape,…you have the ability to control…what part is effected.…Does it effect the Inside or the Outside…of the image?…For example, we can pull this in a little bit…and set this over the course of our flower.…
By pressing ctrl + minus,…I can zoom out and actually see handles here,…allowing me to rotate this…to better fit the shape.…That feels pretty good.…And I'm going to Effect the Outside…and simply pull down the Exposure…outside of this core area.…Ctrl + zero to fit the canvas,…and that looks pretty solid.…It's nicely showing me the core details…of the flower.…
I can also Feather that…for a gentler transition.…Let's pull down the Saturation at the edges, as well,…so it's not drawing the eye.…Now, to fill that in,…the regular Graduated Filter is useful.…
