Join Bert Monroy for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the exercise files, part of Creating Dreamscapes in Photoshop: 1.
If you are a Premium Member of the lynda.com online training library, or if you are watching this tutorial on a DVD-ROM, you have access to the exercise files used throughout this title. The exercise files are organized in chapters. At the start of each lesson, you will be provided with an overlay showing you the location of the files you need. Right here, we see the folder of exercise files. I open it up, and you can see that they are broken down into the chapters. We'll look at chapter 1 right here, and you will see that there you will find JPEGs and a PSD.
Now these JPEGs will be the files that are actually used for the exercise, and you will see that there is the Final. That is the final file that you see at the end of the movie, and it has all the layers and all the pertinent features that have been added throughout the lesson. You will be working primarily with these three and then, that will be your guide as to what it's supposed to look like. If you're a Monthly Member or a Annual Member of lynda.com, you don't have access to the exercise files, but you can follow along from scratch with your own assets. And I really want to stress that that these files are purely for the exercises shown here.
What I want you to do is take your own images, and create your own dreamscapes based on what you come up with.
- Creating alpha channels
- Isolating content with clipping groups and layer masks
- Turning a day sky into a night sky
- Compositing photos
- Creating tableaus
