Using the Object Select tool to add a mask
- [Illustrator] Here's our cutout receptionist, and we want to move her behind the desk. With the Move Tool active, we can drag her into place. Of course, we want to behind the desk and not in front of it. And the best way of doing this would be to make a layer mask. But when we look at the Layers panel, we can see there's already a layer mask for this receptionist, and the layer can't have more than one mask. The solution here is to tap on the New Layer button and hold and choose New empty group. Now a group can hold multiple layers, but the best thing is that a group can have a layer mask all of its own. So we can pick up the receptionist and drop her into that group. And this indent shows that she's now part of the group For now we'll hide this group by tapping the eye icon and switch to the background layer.
