Using the Multiply mode

- [Instructor] In this movie we'll take a look at a couple of highly practical uses for the Multiply blend mode. Starting with this volleyball, which I'm going to move into an entirely different background, but I want to make sure to keep its shadow as well, which was captured against a white background. So the first step is to right-click anywhere inside the image window with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, and then choose Duplicate Layer. And I'll go ahead and change the Destination document to Three backgrounds.psd and click OK. Alright, now I'll go ahead and switch over to that document and I'll rename this new layer volleyball. And then I'll immediately change its blend mode from Normal to Multiple. Now that's going to do a brilliant job of blending the shadow into the background, but it's also going to do a fairly tragic job of blending the volleyball.
