Join Bryan O'Neil Hughes for an in-depth discussion in this video Using Content-Aware Scale to adjust images, part of Learning Photo Restoration with Photoshop.
- [Instructor] A common problem with restorations…is that you'll often be working with images…that are strange sizes.…So, an image like this.…Maybe I want to drop this into a frame that's,…say, wider or taller,…or just a different orientation than what I have.…Well, if you try to do that,…you're going to transform the contents…and you're going to stretch the image.…I want to show you a really cool trick…to change the proportions of an image…and this works really well.…You can take a square image…and make it landscape or portrait.…You can take an image like this and stretch it…quite a bit without stretching the content.…
Let's take a look at the image size as it is now.…This is 14.5 by 22,…pretty big image.…Let's just come in here to the Canvas Size…and we're going to switch the canvas…to the size we want it to be.…Just to show you how well this works,…let's choose an even stranger size…and go from 22 inches high to 25 inches high.…So that's the new size.…If I were to do that just by transforming,…that would just make him really long.…
