Understanding intentional camera movement or ICM

- [Instructor] The next chapter in our quest to be as creative as possible to break free from the standard static photograph brings us to icm or intentional camera movement. This technique uses a long exposure and the movement of the camera during that exposure to create streaks within a scene. There are two major ways to do it. You can do horizontal, so we take the camera into a horizontal movement, or vertical and we go up and down on the vertical movement. Now, with horizontal I always like to match it with a scene that also has horizontal lines in it. For example, waves, so we've got incredible waves, just crashing up to the shore here. It's a wonderful subject for horizontal. Also, horizons are nice too, anything that has something that mimics the movement. For vertical, which we're going to do later, we're going to use trees, which are perfect. They've already got the vertical movement and it works with that vertical icm to perfection. So, icm, moving the camera during exposure.…
