Understanding bit depth and grayscale

Continuing our discussion of the basic building blocks of an image, just a quick review. We looked earlier and found out that, oh, our image is made up of square pixel bricks, right? And those pixel bricks are really constructed out of gray scale channels. Now, what I'd like to discuss is, and add in is, the concept of bit depth and shades of grays, or tones of gray to this whole discussion of pixels and channels. Alright, so when we zoom in on an image like this one here. Space Bar to bring up the page grabber hand, so we can see all the pixels here. And we go to, say, just the red channel. We look. We see that each of these pixels is assigned a specific shade of grey. Each one has a specific shade of grey. How do we do that in a digital image? Well, let me just switch over here.
