- [Narrator] I've heard a lot of interesting conversations…about what makes a good or bad histogram.…The problem with judging a histogram is that a histogram…is simply a visual representation…of the tonal values in the image.…We can use the histogram…to see where the numeric values in an image fall,…which can be extremely helpful…when identifying areas in the image…that might've been clipped to be pure black or white,…which means that they have no detail in those areas,…and we can also use histograms…to see if we're making use…of all of the tonal values that are available,…in other words, if there are tonal values in the image…that extend across the entire dynamic range.…
So let's take a look at the histogram…for these three images.…Under the Window menu, I'll choose Histogram…and then I will undock it by just pulling it out…to the left hand side here…so that I can close the Navigator panel,…and then rearrange this…so that we can make it a little bit easier to see.…Now, I'll use the fly-out window…in order to change to Expanded View,…
