Turning an abstract landscape into a black-and-white image
- One of the great benefits of using a long lens was to be able to zoom in, pull out really abstract patterns within the Palouse. And here we have an image that I think's definitely worth exploring. Lens correction was applied during import. The histogram again very dull. Nothing on the left or right. So all the information's there. We're going to go right into Photoshop with it. Here we are in Photoshop. And just like our previous movie, we're going to start with the curves option auto adjustment. We're going to go through our four selections. I think Fine Dark & Light Colors, number three, really strong. Builds some nice contrast. I like the dark brown. We're going to hit OK. And let's do before and after. Very dramatic, really cut through that haze. Now, I also want to show you a neat trick here with the opacity slider. The beauty of Photoshop is fine tune control. I can change this the strength of this adjustment based on opacity. So very precise controls. Now, from here let's go…
