- [Narrator] Smart Objects are essential for website designs created in photoshop. They're especially helpful since it allows you to resize and adjust an object as much as desired without losing quality. Some of the benefits of using Smart Objects are you can perform nondestructive transformations. You can scale, rotate, skew, distort, perspective transform, or warp layer without losing original image data or quality. You also have the ability to access the vector data if applicable. You can apply filters in a nondestructive way and if you edit one Smart Object, you automatically update all of its linked instances. It's possible to apply a layer mask that's either linked or unlinked to a Smart Object layer. You can also try various designs with low resolution place holder images and then replace them later on with a final version's.
