- [Instructor] All right, so far we've been focusing our attention on three channel RGB images. Now we're gonna take a look at Photoshop single channel mode, which is gray scale. But first I'm gonna reset my view of the channels to gray scale by pressing control + K or command + K on a Mac, which is the default shortcut for the preferences command, and then I'll click on interface, over here in the left hand list, and I'll turn off this checkbox show channels in color, and then I'll click okay. And now I can once again see my channels as gray scale images, which is much more helpful when you're trying to create a mask. All right, now I want to convert the image to gray scale but I don't want to harm the original, and so just to make sure that this image is protected, I'll go up to the image menu and choose the duplicate command, and if you loaded my custom D keys, I've given you a keyboard shortcut of control + shift + alt + D here on the PC, or command + shift + D on a Mac.
