Join Jan Kabili for an in-depth discussion in this video Sharpening in Lightroom, part of Photo Tools Weekly (2015).
- Hi, this is Jan Kabili with Photo Tools Weekly.…This week, we're going to be taking a look…at sharpening in Light Room, and I'm going to suggest…that you take a more holistic approach to sharpening…than you might have done so far.…What do I mean by holistic?…Well, I mean thinking about when you're going…to sharpen an image, and which tools you're going to use…at each stage of sharpening.…There's more to sharpening…than just going to the Detail panel…in Lightroom's Develop module,…and using the sharpening controls there.…In fact, some photographers…will sharpen an image more than once.…They'll use these Detail controls…for their initial sharpening routine,…I'll call that Capture Sharpening,…and the purpose of that kind of sharpening,…is to compensate for the inherant softness…that you get through digital capture.…
The next kind if sharpening, I call Creative Sharpening.…It's where you focus in on part of a photo…that needs extra sharpening,…and use one of the Local Adjustment tools to apply that.…And finally, there's Output Sharpening,…
